President’s Report – October 2009

Well, Fall is upon us and it’s a great time of the year to get those cars out on the road and enjoy the countryside. I’ve been very pleased with the turn out for the monthly membership meetings and all seem to have a good time. But I sure wish that we would have more members interested in going on the Drives. A group of 6 Club members drove to the West Baden, IN, for the 356 Holiday and it was really something special. To see 200+ pre-1965 Porsche cars in that historic sight was quite first class and exciting.

We have several events coming up in October: The Louisville Concours Sunday Oct 4th (I have discount tickets if you’re interested), The Huber’ Winery Drive Saturday Oct 17th where we’ll meet up with two other PCA regions (CIR and SIR) for a nice drive up and a car get together on the Huber’s lawn. The weather is usually great and so is the time. We also have a very important event the weekend of Oct. 23, 24, 25th. It is our Fall DE event. These DE events are very important to the Kentucky Region and we need to support this. So if you have done it before sign up again. And if you haven’t you should. It’s great fun and you’ll learn a lot about yourself and your car’s performance.

October marks an important time within the Kentucky Region – Election time. All positions are open so if you would like to be at the forefront of the Ky PCA, give your name to the election committee. This is a very critical time for the Kentucky Region, we’ll be starting the next 50 years. It’s important to have strong leadership to make things interesting, fun, and worthy of your time.

By now, we’ve completed one of the best evening events ever for the Kentucky Region – our celebration Gala of our 50th anniversary as a Region in PCA. The evening was wonderful. Many thanks went out to the Gala Committee and to the Lichtefeld’s for giving us the use of the Palace Theater. If you weren’t there you missed the best of the best.
The October Monthly meeting will be at the BlueGrass Porsche Dealership at 7 o’clock. We’ll have pizza and drinks.
Hope to see you all at the next event. Plan on it….
