Ken's Ramblings - February 2010

Winter, ice, snow, and cold really suck. But it will be only a few short weeks until we will see the trees and flowers
again. Winter is the time that we play cars indoors. Working hard to finish a ‘60 Roadster before good weather. It
should be a beauty: Heron Grey (a very light grey) and dark blue leather interior. Also working on the motor for a
1951 356 cabriolet. It will be shown at Amelia Island in early March.

I have a friend in the Miata Club and recently he suggested that the Porsche Club and the Miata Club get together
for a couple of dinner drives this summer. Sounds like a plan to me. I have passed the info to Steve for consideration,
etc.

Still working on the new garage at Andy's. The short lift and the new four-post lift are still where we unloaded
them waiting on time to set them up. For now all spare time is devoted to the Roadster...

Recently I had some new prescriptions and went to K-Mart to get a 5 day supply until I could get them from the
VA. It was over 100 bucks for the 5 days worth! Downright pricey. I contacted the doctor’s office for some samples to get
me thru until the VA came thru. I commented on the high prices and the receptionist suggested that I look at the Wal-
Mart Pharmacy's list of generic drugs. I found a couple that I needed and a 30 days supply was only $4.00, half the cost
of the VA and one heck of a lot less than the brand name meds. I know this has absolutely nothing to do with cars, but I
also know that many of you also take meds. Just go to your local Wal-Mart Pharmacy and ask for their list. Just might
save you some bucks. Kroger is starting a $4.00 plan and I just learned that K-Mart also has a similar plan. Shop around
and you just might save enough bucks to buy that 356
you have been lusting after.

I have been following the upcoming election...  Just listen to what the candidates say. Nothing.  They are telling you what you want to hear, but nothing specific. Change? What kind of change? I can think of the kind of change I would like to see but will bet that is not what they have in mind. The change I want to see is low taxes, an aggressive policy to protect America.  Let’s win this war and get the heck out of there. Next war we get into let’s get it over with fast and not let the politicians run it. That's part of what cost us VietNam.

I could care less that some terrorist is scared 's***less' because somebody dribbled some water in his face. If it will save us, do it. Beats what they do, remember Nick Berg? Congress is giving the bad guys the advantages by tying the hands of our military and intelligence forces in the name of 'human rights'. I want change that protects America and our allies from the
crazies of this world that want to kill us. If you think I am picking on any particular candidate you are wrong.  One wants to 'talk' to the enemy, like that will work.  Google Neville Chamberlain and his 'peace in our time'. Another is portrayed as a nice person, just read what the folks that had to protect her have to say. All the camera angles make her look good but in my opinion she is one of the winged monkeys from a certain movie....Another wants to give amnesty to all here illegally.  And yet another wants to muzzle free speech (McCain/Feingold) amnesty (McCain/ Kennedy) I recall the definition of 'ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION'
I offered last time...'The inability to get excited about any candidate of either party'. I will hold my nose and vote for the lesser of the evils.

My rant for now....
