From the P2O Chairperson…

Welcome to P2O!™ As Chairperson of P2O™ for 2012, I’m extremely excited about moving the event to Granville for the first time. There are several reasons for moving the event to Granville.  After seven years in Oxford, we felt it was time for a fresh location; we wanted the event to remain exciting.  We feel that the accommodations will suit us better; the Cherry Valley Lodge and Water Park has 200 rooms, which will give us a central location for the majority of attendees.  The room rate is only $99 if you register by the end of June.  There are also the historic Granville Inn and the Buxton Inn, which is 200 years old this year.  The total experience in Granville will be big improvement over years past.  You will find Granville extremely easy to get to, being 30 minutes east of Columbus.

This is my third year as Chairperson of this tremendously successful event, and my goal is to leverage the hard work over the last seven years by volunteers and organizers to make this year the best ever.  Hosted by the Mid Ohio Region Porsche Club of America, P2O™ brings club and non-club enthusiasts together to share in cars and great conversations.  Last year, four weeks prior to the event, the City of Oxford cancelled the event.  We had to go through some tough negotiations to keep the event for 2011.  Road construction also made it impossible to hold the P2O™ in Oxford for 2012.

Your attendance will help raise money for a prominent cancer foundation, our charity of choice for the third straight year. Everyone knows someone affected by cancer and we’re asking everyone to help find a cure. P2O’s™ brainchild, MaryLynn Roe, battled cancer with endless courage and this year we are continuing the tradition in her honor. MaryLynn’s Row™ is reserved parking directly in front of show center for attendees making a $100 tax deductible contribution to ACS. Space is limited so please reserve your spot when pre-registering.  Last year the spots sold out in just a few days.

P2O™ 2012 will be bigger and better than ever without sacrificing the distinct personal touches that make it completely casual and relaxing. On Friday July 27^th we will start with several open houses during the day relating to Porsche.  For those interested in motorcycles, the AMA is 15 minutes away from Granville.  Starting at 6pm Friday night we will move into the Granville Inn to kick off the weekend — a preview show of the cars that will attend the Saturday show.

We will continue with our “Peoples’ Choice” car show with awards for the top ten percent of registered cars (Top-50 awards).  Thanks to Porsche of the Village of Cincinnati, Griot’s Garage of Tacoma, WA, Autobahn Extremist of Rocky River, OH, and Forgeline Wheels of Dayton, OH, for enlisting as Major Event Sponsors. P2O™ also benefits from supporting sponsors to ensure our event is first class in every way.

This year we expect up to 500 shiny Porsches to attend the uptown Granville area on Friday July 27^th and Saturday, July 28th. In 2011, we registered 480 Porsches from 19 states and Canada, with 440 successfully making it to Oxford.

Your $35 registration fee is a real bargain considering it gets you an event T-shirt, event poster, and entry into the car show where beautiful cars and sponsors will be on hand to help make your Porsche ownership experience even better. Attendees will also have a chance to win great door prizes that will be given away throughout the day. We think it’s the best bargain of the summer.

As great as the cars are, it’s the great people that create the success of this event. We hope you to choose to join us this July 27^th through 29th in Granville, Ohio. Based on the responses of those who have attended in the past, we are confident you are going to have a great time.
